American Speech Therapy LLC offers private speech therapy services in a clinical office setting that is warm, safe, and inviting.
Our speech-language pathologists are trained in the evaluation, diagnosis,
and treatment of problems associated with speech, language, voice, fluency,
cognitive-communication, and feeding and swallowing. The populations served include
infants and toddlers, children and teenagers, and adults and geriatrics.

We take an individualized, client-centric approach to speech therapy. Our treatment methods are contemporary, dynamic, and evidence-based. Techniques and strategies are firmly grounded in the empirical findings of scientific research studies where therapy is implemented by nationally certified speech-language pathologists with specialized training and education in the field.
THE SERVICES
American Speech Therapy is a Horizon OMNIA Tier 1 provider. We are Medicare-credentialed and preferred/in network with all major
insurance companies,
including: Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, AmeriHealth/Independence Blue Cross, and United Healthcare. (Please note this list is

We offer a wide range of services to target your specific needs,
including consultations, evaluations, 1:1 treatment, small group sessions, and parent education seminars. American Speech Therapy provides
organizational in-service programs to daycares, schools, healthcare facilities, and offices that staff and provide in-home care services.

Melissa Rotsides Bakker, M.A. CCC-SLP
Owner & Clinical Director, Speech-Language Pathologist
Owner and Clinical Director of American Speech Therapy, Melissa is licensed by the State of New Jersey, nationally certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), and state-certified by the New Jersey Department of Education. Melissa earned her Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Montclair State University, where she was awarded a graduate assistantship with a research emphasis on culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Her undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware consisted of a dual-degree B.A. program in Foreign Languages and Literatures and Psychology. Melissa was conferred a Degree with Distinction at her University of Delaware commencement, a prestigious honor she received as a result of her thesis research on Emotion Knowledge (EK) and children’s later positive and negative behaviors, including self-esteem, social functioning, and academic performance. Melissa is PROMPT© trained for the treatment of pediatric motor speech and articulation disorders and is certified in VitalStim® neuro-muscular electric stimulation (NMES) for the treatment of dysphagia in adults. She has treated clients across the lifespan in a variety of settings, including early intervention, elementary and middle schools, outpatient therapy clinics, sub-acute rehabilitation hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities. In her spare time, she loves to travel, read and write, entertain and host gatherings for her family and friends, and spend time with her husband and two children.

Andrea Riley, M.A. CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Andrea is an El Paso, Texas native. She earned her Master’s degree in Communication Disorders from New Mexico State University and her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso. Andrea is licensed by the State of New Jersey and nationally certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Andrea has experience working in a variety of settings, including inpatient acute care, skilled nursing facilities, and clinic-based settings. She is Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT)® certified for the treatment of Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological conditions. Andrea’s passion for speech pathology and her experience in the field span many different ages and diagnoses, from early intervention services for late talkers to cognitive therapy and swallowing rehabilitation for adults. Andrea is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Neurologic Rehabilitation from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions. In her spare time, she enjoys powerlifting, paddle boarding, and spending time with her husband.
Victoria Costello
Client Care Coordinator
Victoria has experience managing the healthcare needs of clients and their families from both the outpatient and acute care settings. As Client Care Coordinator of American Speech Therapy, Victoria coordinates with healthcare services, communicates with members of the care team, and provides community resources and referrals to clients in need of continuing care. Her role includes reviewing and advocating for clients’ health needs, managing accounts and records, scheduling evaluation and treatment appointments, and ensuring compliance with professional standards and requirements.
